Easy musli bars.

When I first started trying to eliminate colors, flavors, preservatives from our diet I began reading the back of packets and was surprised to see the ingredient list on things I thought were good choices.

Not only are packaged foods expensive, they often contain preservatives and flavorings.  I stumbled upon this basic recipe somewhere on my travels and its so simple, quick and easy.  Its a basic r.recipe that can be added too or altered with what you have on hand.  Its a prefect replacement for bought muesli bars in lunch boxes and nut free too.

Muesli bars
125g butter
1/4 cup golden syrup (Can substitute with honey)
1 cup rolled oats

1 1/2 cup dried fruit (what ever you have on hand)
1/2 cup self raising flour
1/2 cup brown sugar

Pre heat oven 180C
melt butter and golden syrup
combine dry ingredients
add wet ingredients
press lightly into a lined 20x30cm tin
bake 20-25 mins
allow to cool in tin and cut into bars when cool.

And your done.  Costs bugger all, tastes better then the bought ones, you can adapt it to what you have on hand and takes about 5 minutes total preparation.  Hope you love it as much as I do!

xx
